Create new column with value conditional on another column

Is there an easy way to create a new string column with 3 various values conditional on a value in another column? AIP assist suggested the SQL transform or Add Calculated Column transforms but I’m not seeing either of these available. I defaulted to just writing a function, but I feel like there is probably a simpler way.
