How to delete ontology object when backing data source is no longer available

I have deleted the source backing an ontology object as part of clean-up and now ontology manager is not allowing me to delete the object as backing source is not available.

Mysteriously saying you don’t have permissions. This shouldn’t be a permission issue as I own this account.

Hey @RajKarri! Thanks for reporting!

Could you explain how lack of deletion permission manifests for you? Is the delete button disabled which prevents you from staging the deletion or do you hit any errors while saving your ontology changes?

In general, even if the dataset is deleted, the permissions should be preserved, so you are intended to be able to delete the object type. However, we may be overtly restrictive here, and if that’s the case, please file a support ticket. Thank you!

Yeah. you are correct there as lack of permission doesn’t stop me, it’s kind of misleading message. when I tried to save after deleting object, I could see something like this in the image.

I guess we can reproduce this like create an ontology object out of pipeline builder and delete project folder including pipeline and source dataset. In that scenario, ontology object become orphan and doesn’t let us delete.

Thanks for flagging the error! It turns out we were overtly restrictive here. We pushed a fix to Ontology Manager and it should now be possible to delete entities even if their dataset was deleted.
