I have created an Object, and may I know how can I rearrange Object Properties’ sequence?
In which context? In a Workshop display?
I guess this is in the object monitoring view. The object editor.
I noticed the point few months ago also. I observed that the order of the properties in object monitor determines the order in explorer view and also in the workshop widget properties and in the drop-down list when you have to select the property in a widget.
I would like to have this property better order.
Hi - thanks for sharing this. Curious how you would feel about the Object Type owner/admin setting a “default” property order in Ontology Manager (OMA), which would be the default in all object table views (workshop, object explorer, etc).
Additionally, would you see need/value in users of the Object Type then being able to set and save their own property order, again for example in Object Explorer - where a user view/preference may differ from the default property ordering?
Yes. What gdf mentioned is correct. I would like to have better property order.
Hi I’m not sure if you expect an answer from my part but let me explain more in detail what is my concern. (I’m not fluent enough in English sorry for that).
My issue is not about incapacity to display properties in correct order in table in explorer or in workshop. But it is more about order of properties in ordering interfaces in Explorer and in workshop.
- The explorer interface when we click on the cog icon on the table upper right corner.
- The workshop interface in view mode when we right-click on the header of a table column to edit displayed column.
- The workshop interface in dev mode when we select column to display in a table or object list widget (and some other widgets). Or when we click on “add all properties” in the widgets.
- And maybe other places…
In all that interfaces the properties order is inherited from order in OMA that is generated in an automatic order that we can’t change or edit. I’m not sure if this order is alphabetical or if it follows another logic. I observed that it is not the same order than the order of the dataset columns. I also think that adding column in a second time edition will add properties on first position, just after the primary key.
And most of my youth cases require an non alphabetical order. I need to order column in a logical sequence than make them easy to find. For instance if we have an object type called School Record card with 50 Properties we would prefer to have prop “Name” nearby prop “family name”, etc
I hope you understand concerns.
Best regards.
Great- thanks for this. Appreciate the feedback.
