Can Markings Be Deleted After Creation in Palantir Foundry?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently working with Markings in Palantir Foundry and trying to better understand their lifecycle. I have a quick question:

===>>> Once a Marking (of any category: user-defined, etc.) is created, is it possible to delete it later? Or are markings immutable and only editable (but not removable)?

I’ve seen that markings play a crucial role in data governance and access control, so I want to be extra careful while setting them up. But I also want to know if there’s a clean-up or reversal mechanism in case a marking was created mistakenly or becomes obsolete.

Would appreciate any insights or official documentation references related to this!

hey roushan,

deletion of markings is not something we allow. see https://www.palantir.com/docs/foundry/platform-security-management/manage-markings/#:~:text=Create%20Markings-,Marking%20deletion,-Once%20created%2C%20markings.
