We are making a top screen for our client and we received the following 3 questions.
Please answer about the specifications.
⓵Displaying the Search Bar on a Carbon screen ?
Currently, we cannot display the Search Bar searching resources across Foundry on a Carbon screen ?
Would it possible?
⓶If case⓵ is difficult, is it possible to keep the left menu bar (which can show Favorites and Search) on the screen on Carbon?
With the current Cabon, the menu bar on the left side is not displayed.
⓷About Linking to Personal Folders
Is it possible to create a link from Carbon to each User’s “your files”?
This is not currently possible. Carbon is intended to create curated workspace experiences for operational users on top of the Foundry platform, and so purposefully avoids exposing the full Foundry platform within Carbon.
The left hand sidebar therefor cannot be shown in Carbon workflows, but if users have need to see it, they likely just should not be constrained to the Carbon experience.
One thing you could consider is using an “External link” Carbon home page item to link to URLs in general Foundry if you want your users to start in Carbon, but have access to general Foundry.
One workaround is to build the Carbon, and then using Slate, embed the Carbon. Note: if you’re using URL query parameters, this might have issues passing them.
