In workshop it can sometimes be tricky to get the real-estate on a page right. I love that adjustable section have been introduced last year, but still this often times requires scrolling and re-scaling. The next-level would be for us to let sections pop out as modal overlays, with the option that users can then move them around e.g. to a second screen
We have an application where users can manage their forecast. For this they have two main section where they work in on a day-to-day basis:
- the overview (Pivot table summarizing all their key figures)
- action panel (Assistants to help them build their forecast)
The way our users work is, they click in the overview pivot table “where they want to see aditional information or perform an action”. The action panel filters on-click accordingly and in the action panel they can then select the change they want to apply.
The layout we have already made flexible in a way, that users can align the action panel horizontally or vertically (hidden section).
However, next level would be, if they could really just pop out the action panel (modal overlay) and have that in full screen on a second screen (movable).
