How to Enable and Set Up AIP Analyst Memories?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to enable AIP Analyst Memories in our Foundry instance to deliver more personalised, context-aware responses from the AI assistant.

Has anyone successfully set this up? I’d love to hear:

  • How did you get it enabled? Did you need to reach out to Palantir support, or is it something that can be configured directly by an administrator?

  • What was the setup process like? Were there any prerequisites, backing datasets, or object types that needed to be configured?

  • Any tips or best practices? How are you managing user vs. organisational memories, and how do you handle permissions and data governance?

  • How has the experience been? Has it made a noticeable difference in how your users interact with AIP Analyst?

Any guidance, documentation links, or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated!

How to enable AIP Analyst Memories

This functionality is presently in internal testing and can only be set up by a Palantir representative. Regardless, the steps will be as follows.

  1. Get your Palantir representative to add the “AIP Analyst Memories” marketplace store on to your environment. As this feature is currently behind a feature flag, also ask your Palantir representative about enabling it.
  2. Install the AIP Analyst Memory marketplace product from this store.
    a. You’ll have to provide the ADA-002 embedding model, an ownership group, and an organization. Everyone in that org will be able to create memories, but shareable memories must be approved by the owner group.
  3. In the Settings menu within AIP Analyst, “Enable Memories”

After this, there will be a new button in the top right of your Analyst session which allows you to create memories from your conversations, and will flag whenever you might be creating duplicates.

Usage

Memories are private by default, though can be shared with others if set to “Public”. In doing so, a “Memory Proposal” will be created and needs to be approved. The approval group is set up when installing the marketplace product
