Option to Swap the X and Y axis on the Dynamic-Scheduler

Hey all, I am a huge fan of the dynamic scheduler, and use it for a few of my customers/projects. I have a feature request from one of my customers to have the time series on the Y axis, rather than the X axis for one of the workshop applications I manage for them.

My current plan is to rebuild my own version of a gantt chart in slate using the code sandbox, but with the axis swapped. I thought I would ask if this is something that has already been done before, or in development before spending a few weeks on it.

Thanks

Hi Ryan, curious how this endeavour went for you. This should be possible with custom widgets now, but I don’t believe that the Scheduling GANTT supports the X/Y swap as you’ve described. Was Slate a good solution?

Thanks!
Ray

Hi @RyanS

Appreciate that you enjoy using the dynamic scheduling apps! I’m Molly, I lead the Dynamic Scheduling team.

We have gotten this request a few times in past. It would be a significant amount of work for us to support this natively in the existing widget. This is largely due to the interactions to support, as opposed to visual. So, while I completely understand the utility and its not out of question in some future, we do not have plans to support this in our fall roadmap (Oct - Feb) over other priorities.

I will keep this noted for future roadmaps and will let you know if we ever move forward! Thanks for flagging

Custom widgets are the way I will be moving forward with this requirement, the slate option was more of a “if the customer REALLY wants this I can make it happen.”

Thank you for the response, I have gone forward with developing a custom widget to fulfill my customer’s requirement, starting a with read-only display and then possibly one with similar interactions to the existing dynamic scheduling widget.
