Pivot Widget: Rework to make it excel equivalent

The pivot widget today is very limited in its capability - sometimes it is more pain then the value it delivers.

In an ideal world, the pivot widget would give users the equivalent of an excel pivot table and all (or most) of the capabilities provided there. If this existed then our users would want it for all their objects and would use it extensively.

Hey Callum- dev on workshop here. We’re looking into more pivot table investment in T3 and 2025, and continuing to invest int its feature set.

When you say “more investment” what exactly do you mean here? More configurability for the developer? Or more configuration options for the end user?

Likely both! Though can’t give concrete planned features as of yet as we’re scoping that out

I am fully endorsing this request. Pivot table widget offers a nice way to summarize data. My wish as a first feature would be te be able to define conditional formating for a given column and that the condition, at some point, would rely on values on the same row.

Adding another endorsement… simple features like filtering/sorting/calculated fields would make a huge difference

Hi @dkim
I would also like to endorse and add a request that the Workshop team consider improving better support for reusing values in pivot tables.

Currently, end-users are unable to right-click and copy values directly for further use.

The current workaround I found is less elegant, and involves these steps:

  1. Move mouse over the desired value.
  2. Right-click on the value.
  3. Select “Inspect” and locate the value in the console.

Enhancing this functionality would greatly improve user experience and efficiency.
