Unhelpful Error Message in Third Party Application Creator

Hello!

While trying to create a stream, I went through the process of creating a third party application for pushing data into the stream.

At the end of the third party application creation workflow, I encountered the following:

I have tried looking around for auth issues but to no avail. My best guess is that this is not something I am allowed to do on a free tier account.

I have a work around for now (using a personal token). Just wanted to share so a discussion starts in case anyone else is also experiencing this.

Thanks very much for your post, and for flagging this.

You are correct. Client Credential Grants are not permitted as part of free Developer Tier. Our product team is working on making this clear in the UI so you won’t get this error going forward.

We’ll post here when the change is implemented.
