We are planning to manage foundry users and those resources correctly in our enrollment in aspect of data governance.
I’m concerned about 2 things.
One is the user who comes back to the foundry project with a different role/department and is enabled again. Can he/she still access their old resources in personal folders?
The other is resources wasted. Are useless resources removed automatically when the user is disabled/deleted?
Then, I would like to know whether the resources in the personal folder still exist or not in the following three cases:
when the user is disabled
when the user is disabled and then deleted permanently
when the user is disabled and enabled again
Any suggestion or related URL will be helpful.
Thanks in advance.
Resources in home folders don’t get deleted when the user is disabled or deleted, so if the user comes back later they would be able to access all of their old resources (subject to any markings on those resources, if their access to markings has changed).
You can review the resource usage of home folders in the Resource Management app, but there’s no way to cut off usage within home folders of disabled or deleted users.
Thank you for early answering. That makes sense.
Now I’ve found that we managers have to make users delete their personal files before leaving a foundry project if we want to delete those from filesystem.
Also, are there any functionalities which prohibit users from using their personal folder beforehand?
Configuration functionality to disable home folders exists but is in beta state (reference). This means customers can opt-in to using that functionality before it is made generally available. To do so, please contact Palantir Support.
